Sometimes more than half of the sweat and toil a writer puts into a manuscript is in setting up the scene, the community, the people, customs, conditions of a place where a story will take place.

Wouldn’t it be lovely to cut your creation spinning time down and have more than one story, each with different main characters, play out in the setting that you sweat out creating already? The answer should be, YES!

In 4 weeks we’ll build such a place. It could be a small town, a large company complex, a fantasy world or city, or something else. You might build two such worlds to give your characters a place to vacation. If so, will there be postcards?

Some of this will be very like building a world for a trilogy or series, but without a story arc to cover all the tales that could be told on these streets where your characters live. Heck, characters from previous or future books could be neighbors or co-workers!

We’ll draw maps, name streets, write a backstory for the community or business, and a myriad of other things to create this stay-in-place stage on which many stories can be played out upon. Pantsers as well as Plotters can profit by building these settings, so put on your construction helmet and come on down!
