The writing is a creative process that uses all dimensions of our mind, body, and spirit, and must be fueled with energy to awaken our well-being, inspiration, and the muse. We must keep our body hydrated, nourished, and energized by awakening our five senses to create a healthy mind to optimize the writing experience. The creative and healthy writing process is the product of how we engage our five senses in our mindful choices for living and writing: (1) sight, (2) scent, (3) sound, (4) touch, and (5) taste.

In this course, week 1 will unlock the science behind the five senses and how we use the sensory mechanism to activate our creativity and we will focus on "sight" where we will explore the relationship between sight and writing process, train our sight to see beauty in all things, beneath the superficial surfaces (on things, people/characters, and situations). Week 2, we will focus "scent" where we use of scent to awaken our mind, body, and spirit to clear blockages, unlock memories, and improve concentration as well as focus on the presence and absence of "sound" in our writing. Week 3 will explore how interpersonal relationships with oneself and others impacts our writing. Week 4 will focus on "taste" and how to food to fuel the body and mind to create a healthy writing process and summarize the ways to use the five senses to guide our writing senses.


By the end of the course, students will understand how to explore their five senses to improve their overall well-being to carry on the writing journey.

  • Identify the importance of generating a healthy and creative writing
  • Use the five senses for improve sense of well-being and creativity

  • Learn scents to activate specific states of mind.
  • Apply mindful listening to the heart’s calling
  • Improve interpersonal relationship with oneself and others.
  • Create an inventory of food that prep the creative mind.
