Hi Keane,

Welcome to SavvyAuthors! I think that we've already chatted about workshops vs. webinars, but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to email ME.

As the Membership Coordinator and the Workshop Coordinator, I can answer the majority of your questions and if I can't answer it I will find someone that can.

A huge welcome and don't hesitate to email if you need anything! :)

Welcome Keane,

Savvy is a great place to study and no, the work shops don't function like Webinars. Webinars happen within a specific time frame--and you ask and receive answers within that closed time frame.

Workshops last over several weeks and/or month(s). While you can ask and receive answers like a webinar, the turn around time is stretched. You might have 24-48 hours turn around. Each instructor is different. Some respond quickly; others take more time depending on their access to the internet.

Also, workshops are very individual to the instructor. As a moderator, I've served with some instructors that run a workshop like a drill sergeant to an instructor from a Steiner-Waldorf school and the full gamut between. Of the hundreds of classes I have enjoyed here, I can only count one that disappointed me. I had far more instructors in university and graduate school that were disappointing and I paid A LOT more for those classes. LOL

Don't hesitate to ask for help if you need.

BTW, because you posted under the thread of another newbie, some of the others won't see your post as a new post to answer -- and come say hi to you, specifically. We look for new individual threads, not new posts under the older threads.

You are welcome to copy and paste your words into your own thread...so we can welcome you specifically...in YOUR thread. :)

Welcome,
Lyn

Welcome Keane,

Love your enthusiasm.
Webinars are time specific and quick interactives. Workshops take place over a week/month. The instructor posts 2-3 lessons a week and students post homework and ask questions. The teacher responds within 24-48 hours.

There is more or less participation depending on the group. Some lurk. Some chat. All are welcome. You get out what you put into a class. We have awesome instructors.
