Pitch Type: 3 lines
Looking For: Contemporary Romance, Category Romance (see blurb below for details)
Heidi is currently looking for: I’m specifically looking to grow the Indulgence imprint!
- Alpha, multi-layered wealthy heroes, heroines who are likable and relatable, the everyday woman.
- Intense internal and external conflicts that are strong enough to carry the book all the way through!
I’m looking for fresh ideas and voices, twists and unique tellings of those favorite tropes. Secret baby/accidental pregnancy can be so good when done right! Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, ugly duckling, mistaken identity, forced proximity, all good. Hollywood and celebrities are a little tougher to sell.
I’m super excited to announce AUGUST, our new category romance imprint, where characters are a little more seasoned in life and love, launching in fall 2017!
Guidelines: •High-concept, trope-driven stories really strong on both conflict and emotion, with authentic dialogue and relatable and likable characters in their 30s and 40s with a little life experience under their belt •Word count of 45k – 65k. • I need strong conflict here, more than just an ex who burned them and gave them trust issues. I’m talking engaging meet-cutes, intense conflicts, and interesting characters who are relatable and layered.
Besides acquiring specifically for my two imprints, I’m also looking for the following imprint wide:
- High-concept plots that grab me in one sentence.
- Hot, erotic romance that’ll make me blush (Warning: it’ll take a lot )
- Cowboys, cowboys, cowboys •Men in uniform/veterans/first responders
- Shifters – especially wolves and bears, with that strong family/pack element to it •Angsty heroes with a snarky sense of humor (a la Dean Winchester).
About Heidi & Entangled: Heidi Shoham, editorial director of the Indulgence and August imprints, started working as an editor in the summer of 2007. Her BA in English Language and Literature certainly helps, but it’s been working with wonderfully talented authors and other editors that has taught her the most. When not working on edits, Heidi runs after her three lovely wildlings and cleans up after the world’s most energetic dog. She spends way too much time online—for research purposes, of course—and can be found on Twitter as @heidishoham and on Facebook as Heidi Shoham, where she rambles, and rants, and genuinely tries to make sense (although it might not always show)
