I'm new and would love to chat about the Pitchfest

Hi,

I'm Megan Castle and joined Savvy Authors in time for the Pitchfest. Feeling grateful to be here. In this season I am writing middle grade speculative and sci-fi. I am shopping my first MG literary sci-fi novel. I've been writing most of my life and was published in the early 2000's. Since then, I've been raising kids, teaching, and writing part time... until now. I have a master's of professional writing from USC and a master's in education with an emphasis in upper level Language Arts. Stories are my passion.

Can anyone give me some pointers on their experience at Pitchfest? Did you take pitch classes to prepare? Is there a limit to how many agents and editors we can pitch to? And how has this worked out for you? What have you learned so far? Do published authors use Pitchfest as well?

Wishing everyone peaceful vibes, confidence, and teachability on this fabulous platform.

Smiles,
Megan

Hi from New Memoir Author in Texas

Hi All!

I'm writing a memoir based on my life that mixes historical research I've done into international adoption - to unravel an investigation into my own story - and wondering what other writers have done in terms of sharing docs or portions of docs in a novel? Thanks and I'm excited to be part of this community!

Science-Fantasy Writer

Hi, I'm Jain. I'm a Sudanese speculative fiction writer and my major project is my WIP debut novel, a sci-fantasy adventure, but I also enjoy writing prompts, fanfiction, and recently, I started to love outlining.
I finished writing the first draft a while ago and after a break, I'm preparing for the second draft of developmental editing by mapping out and timelining different things in the novel, filling plot holes, making sense of everything etc.
I'm glad I found this group :)

Hi from a South Asian author writing Book Club Fiction

Hello,

My name is Anoop Judge. I am the author of five books: LAW: WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT and HOW TO GET IN; THE RUMMY CLUB, which won the 2015 Beverly Hills Book Award; THE AWAKENING OF MEENA RAWAT, an excerpt of which was nominated for the 2019 Pushcart Prize; NO ORDINARY THURSDAY, and MERCY and GRACE.

I call myself a “recovering litigator” —I worked in state and federal courts for many years before I replaced legal briefs with fictional tales.

I've taught fiction writing courses through Stanford Continuing Studies and The Writers' Grotto. I was also a cast member of the 2023 reality T.V. show titled THE GEMS OF RUBY HILL.

I'm excited to join this community and offer writing workshops to aspiring and seasoned authors.
