2021 Autumn Pitchfest

Business 2021 Autumn Pitchfest

Savvy Authors always does an excellent job, not only finding agents and editors, but preparing the author days before the event. I might be a veteran of pitchfest, but I always learn something new. But even if you are not going to participate, it's always good to sign up for polish your pitch. It helps you know if you MS is on the right track.
This was a good and well organized event. The additional offering of pitch workshops is fantastic. Savvy pitch events always seem very romance heavy. It would be wonderful to see more agents and especially publishers representing other genres.
A great opportunity.
However, some of the guidelines were a little vague. For example, we were told that each agent/editor would say what sort of pitch they wanted, and no-one did.
Thoroughly impressed with Autumn Pitchfest. Took me a bit to understand the grasp, but believe I finally understood. Wrote and rewrote my pitch numerous times, while also reviewing the agent's requirements. The only comment I would add---it would be nice to see more agents accepting historical fiction/upmarket. It seemed they were all generated to one area instead of this genre. However, I do believe there was room to pitch to one agent who accepted this genre. I was really inspired and amazed at the depth of the pitches, which led me to understand the craft of pitching, what works, and what doesn't work. Kuddos to your team for allowing this opportunity to us writers.
It was really well organized, I was a bit late to signing up, but love how you offered support on how to write a pitch before the event as well. It was great to see such a wonderful selection of agents, from different types of agencies. Thank you for all your hard work!
I liked that the "common materials" was explained before the event and that the agent and editor wishlists were made public beforehand as well. I wish there had been more variety of agents and authors. Perhaps, in the future, you can include more agents and editors that represent and ask for MG and Children books, and less adult romance. ;)
Thankful for those behind the scenes to put on a free even with zero risk to writers. We can still send queries to the slush pile and hone in on our pitch. Thanks for your selfless work!
I like how organized it was. The rules were clear and the team made it easy to pitch directly to agents/editors we were interested in.
I love being able to direct my queries to specific agents. I also am glad NOT to have to send a query.
Thanks for doing this-hopefully someone will 'love' my pitch.
The trend I've seen with the last several pitchfests is for agents and editors with a focus on the Romance genre; I would love an opportunity for more agents with an interest in the Speculative Fiction categories, with romance being less critical.

Thanks for the suggestion! We'll see what we can do.
