Syllabus
In today's rapidly evolving publishing world where readers are barraged by new authors and titles at light speed, the well-crafted novella can be a boon to any author's career. The low word count and simple, yet not simplistic, plot enables the dedicated author to keep her name at the forefront of the reader's attention with releases that are both frequent and of exceptional quality.

The art and craft of the erotic novella is presented by Kimberly Gardner, an award-winning, multi-published author of LGBT romance. The class will center around the seven step plotting template Kimberly has developed and used to write and publish a dozen erotic novellas. Examples will be given from Kimberly's own work and students will be encouraged to bring their own projects into the discussion. The class will include assignments and discussion with feedback provided as time permits.

* The structure of the novella and how it differs from other forms.
* The seven step plotting template; the scenes you need and why you need them.
* Keeping it focused, keeping it clear; How to know what to keep and what to toss.
* Sex in the novella; How soon, how much and how to pull it off.
* Killing your darlings; how to pare down your manuscript to meet word counts without short changing the reader
