The social media world is constantly changing. A few years ago, it was mostly Facebook and Twitter. Today, we have Instagram, TikTok, What’s App, Telegram, Linked In, Reddit, Tumblr, and more.

The uncertainty about the future of Twitter, the growth of new social media platforms, and concerns about misinformation, divisiveness, and fake news in social media has also caused many to reconsider how they use these platforms.

But amid all the changes, Facebook still overshadows all the other social media. With close to two billion daily users and almost three billion monthly users cutting across all demographics, Facebook remains the most powerful social media force available to writers.

However, Facebook is changing. New privacy controls on smartphones have impacted advertising strategies. The Meta Business Suite provides page owners many tools to automate some of the more routine functions of posting content and understanding page performance. More people are spending their Facebook time in Groups. And Facebook pages need much more attention to get wide organic traffic.

In this course, we will cover the basics of creating a presence on Facebook, but we will also focus on how the platform has evolved just over the past couple of years.

We will cover:
  • How to set up a Facebook Author Page
  • The Basics of Content Marketing
  • Improving the Reach of Your Facebook Page
  • Using Groups to Connect with Fans
  • Use of Picture Quotes
  • Using "Boosted" Posts
  • Using Facebook Live Video
  • Reader Groups for Marketing

You ignore Facebook at your own risk as a writer desiring to make an impact in the marketplace. This course will show you how to optimize your presence on the platform
Class Format
Savvy Authors' workshops are held on a forum: a bulletin board based system. You will receive a reminder notice one day prior to the start of the workshop that includes instructions on how to access the workshop forum. If you have not received instructions by the day the workshop begins, please check your spam filter.

The forum will be available the morning (EST) of the day the workshop starts and will remain accessible to all participants thereafter. You will also be given simple instructions on how to create a PDF of all your discussions along with our privacy and data retention policy.
