Many authors think about how to make their social media more engaging to their readers, but fewer ensure their content is accessible. Instagram, Facebook and Twitter have built-in tools to help you make your content available to people with disabilities that use tools like screen readers. There are strategies, resources and minor adjustments to help authors make sure their content is optimized for things like screen readers. As authors, we want our books to be known and read by as many people as possible. Making sure our social media content is accessible helps us get information about our books to more readers. This workshop will show you how to use the built-in accessibility tools in the platforms, best practices for digital accessibility, and some third-party apps that help with content too.

I was so excited to see this mini-intensive when I registered for classes for SavvyWriterCon. We live in a world with diverse individuals and some of those people live with disabilities, but they are book lovers just like the rest of us. I appreciated the content presented and walked away with new tools to help myself as an author and an author PA.
I admit the social media thing makes me cringe but the instructor was very good at explaining and I came out with some much needed information
I enjoyed learning how to try something new for potentially reaching a greater audience. I didn't find the class to be very interactive even though we were encouraged to leave examples, but the information was useful.
Thank you so much for this class! I learned new things about social media, and this class made me think about how to make my posts more accessible.
