  1. Critique
Finding a critique partner can be one of the most difficult parts of writing but having a critique partner that understands your work and you can make the difference between writing success and limping along. We have tried all the different ways to find crit partners and found each of them just does not hit the mark.

  • How do you find someone who writes like you?
  • Who shares your writing goals and is willing to help you while you help them?

We're taking a page from one of the most successful dating experiences: Speed Dating and for ONE WEEK we will have an event that matches you with a series of crit partners for one week of guided critiquing activities! We'll gather your feedback and see if there are any matches.

Will you find a match? We cannot say for sure, but we can say that we will provide a safe, fun and mentored way to work through the process!

Come join us for ONE WEEK of Crit Speed Dating and find your match!
Syllabus
Beginning Monday, September 10, we'll post a few lessons about critiquing best practices. These are based on an amazing class by Teresa Bodwell, enhanced and revised by Melinda Pierce, and updated by me!

We'll give you a critique checklist and discuss what makes a great critique and critique partner. We'll also ask you to complete a questionnaire about your writing and critiquing preferences.

On Thursday, September 13, we will post the list of who you will trade critiques with. We'll ask you to complete these by Saturday night and we will also ask you for confidential feedback on your crit partner to see if there is a match!

On Sunday, September 16, we'll collate that feedback and post the matches. If the stars and your crit preferences align you may have found a crit partner! And if not, well, we'll be running this again in January!

In theory, it seemed good. I was paired with someone who was a different skill level. Their work was comparable to a first draft with many easily caught errors and on the inverse, I wasn’t able to use much of their suggestions.
