If you’ve ever sat on the edge of your seat in a movie as the climax unfolds, you have experienced an emotional arc. This class will show students how the plot events create conflict, tension and emotions. When these results are integrated into the scenes, the combination produces the story’s emotional arc.

By the end of the week, registrants will have an understanding of:

• a plot cloud, a way to look at the problem of developing a plot
• the mandatory and optional components of a scene
• how plot and scenes integrate to form the story’s emotional arc
