Most people are familiar with Joseph Campbell's monomyth but have not heard of Maureen Murdock's Heroine's Journey. Murdock builds on the hero's journey and shows how it's different for the feminine. In this class, we will explore the nine steps as well as their similarities and differences to Campbell's scholarship. We will also apply them to the popular Hunger games MC, Katniss, and find ways to integrate the heroine's journey into our own writing.
Week 1: steps 1-3, Katniss' journey through Hunger Games, personal application exercises
Week 2: steps 4-6, Katniss' journey through Catching Fire, personal application exercises
Week 3: steps 7-9, Katniss' journey through Mockingjay, personal application exercises
All weeks will offer peer and instructor feedback through a Slack channel.

- Savvy Authors' workshops are held on a forum: a bulletin board based system. You will receive a reminder notice one day prior to the start of the workshop that includes instructions on how to access the workshop forum. If you have not received instructions by the day the workshop begins, please check your spam filter.
The forum will be available the morning (EST) of the day the workshop starts and will remain accessible to all participants thereafter. You will also be given simple instructions on how to create a PDF of all your discussions along with our privacy and data retention policy.
