I have struggled with writing since I was very young. I never knew to search for help or to even search for critique partners for my writing. I struggled needlessly with my stories in my pursuit of traditional publication. Even now, I find myself making mistakes but I am still learning how to better my craft. Because of my military service I paused on my dream of being a writer because I felt I had no time to fully commit to my stories. Now, I am moving full force ahead as I try to pave a way for myself in the writing industry. I am a mother and a wife with a social work degree but I want to write. I want to write YA (sci-fi/fantasy/urban fanatsy) stories that I have always wanted to read when I was younger. I want more representation for people of color considering I am a Black woman who is part of the BIPOC community.
