Hello! I feel bad that "the new kid" has 71 views but few hellos, so I wanted to be sure to greet you in person. :)

I'm relatively new here too. I've known about SA since...sometime in the 20-teens, and have participated in Nano and the Pitchfests, but don't often visit the threads, because I'm too easily distracted. I need to use my computer time for work and writing!

Prague! Fascinating. What do you teach?

And...what is a portal series? This is a new term to me (though I confess I don't keep up well with trends. Again, probably because I focus on working and writing and try not to get distracted. :sneaky:)

Anyhow--welcome!

Hello and thank you for the welcomes!

I teach grade 6 English and Social Studies, which is really fun (and exhausting). But it does make writing tricky.

I'm not sure "portal fantasy" is really its own genre, but I heard the term and it stuck. In my series, it refers to the portals between this world and the magical origin world of my characters.

Happy to be here!

I love reading fantasy! And yes, portal fantasy is a sub-genre of fantasy. It seems to be popular among fantasy readers. (Urban fantasy is another sub-genre of fantasy. Oftentimes, a writer will mix different genres and/or different subgenres. It's a good way to mix things up for writers and readers.)

Keep writing!
