Happy Halloween all! This can be a spooky day. But your productivity for the day doesn’t have to be equally spooky!

If you struggle to get to work and get stuff done when there’s a holiday, like Halloween, here are a few tips for you to try.

1. Plan your week before the week starts. If you didn’t get a chance to do that on the weekend, don’t hesitate to do it today. This is especially the case if you are starting NaNoWriMo tomorrow.

2. Write down your goals on a sheet of paper above your workstation. Make sure that your goals are doable.

3. If you are struggling with negative self-talk or your week started rough in some way, perhaps say some affirmations to yourself. If you don’t know how to create meaningful affirmations for yourself, start with something simple. Write the statement in the present tense and go from there.

For example, you can choose statements such as:

• I am a successful writer.
• I can complete my goals.
• I can write a book in a month.
• I am confident and capable.
• I can do anything I put my mind to.

4. Write down these affirmations on a few index cards and put them in places where you will see them at different times of the day. I usually put a card in the bedroom on my night table. That way, I can see it last thing and first thing in the morning. You may want to also put an index card in your office on your desk so that you can see it as soon as you come into your office.

5. At the end of each day, assessing how you with compleeting your goals. You may want to even write down if you had obstacles to completing your goals.

By taking these steps, you are setting yourself up for success.

Try it!
