Stay Strong!

As we move farther into June this week, I hope you have decided to start the month, and the second half of the year, off strong.

Now the trick will be to stay strong the rest of the month.

To do that, you have to know what you want to accomplish and schedule time to do it in.

It's easy to lose sight of goals if they aren't constantly before you. This is a really busy time of year for some with summer holidays and other issues beckoning on our doorstep.

Our kids and spouse may want to take impromptu day trips or even over night stays. This can absolutely derail your plans unless you have firm goals and have a plan on how to complete them.

For that reason, if you don't already have a spiral notebook set up for June, get one today.

Next, create just one short-term writing goal for June and write that goal down at the top of the first page in your spiral notebook.

Next, write down the action or actions you plan to take today that will move you closer to reaching that short-term goal for June.

Create a new page like this in your spiral notebook each day this week.

Simply write down that same goal again, then list the action or actions you plan to take that day to get closer to that goal.

At first, you may feel that you aren't doing enough because you aren't focused on all your major goals for the year.

But then you'll probably start to notice that you're less stressed and not so overwhelmed because you are no longer trying to do too much.

After a few days, you should also start to notice that you're making definite progress toward this one short-term goal.

Remember... it's easy to stay very busy taking all sorts of actions that really aren't leading to your goals. This may be actions such as re-reading your novel and drafting it up as you are writing, checking new sources or doing research, filing away or tidying up your desk, answering email, and much more.

Focus and consistency will lead you to your goals. But not busy work.

Therefore, make sure that you remain focused and consistent to stay strong this week and all this month.

Try it!
