Hi,

This is a little late but I thought I'd do it anyway.

One of the things that I struggle with is what I think is exhaustion. I am always tired. After I'm done working for the day, I often want to take a nap. I've had to think about this and consider whether it is really about being tired or something else. I find a lot of the work I do quite boring and it's draining for this reason. A lot of the work I do for pay is repetitive and even the writing work feels like it is going nowhere to me. Also, I am overwhelmed by what I believe I should do every day and I am especially overwhelmed by the task of finishing my novel. I suspect it means too much to me or that it has taken on dimensions it doesn't necessarily have.

Taking a few minutes to ground myself and remember that I only have to focus on the current task at hand rather than think of all the other things I have to do should be very helpful.

I apologize if this is a little Debbie Downer. It was just things I was thinking of.

Hi,

This is a little late but I thought I'd do it anyway.

One of the things that I struggle with is what I think is exhaustion. I am always tired. After I'm done working for the day, I often want to take a nap. I've had to think about this and consider whether it is really about being tired or something else.Taking a nap isn't always a bad thing. In fact, it can be restorative, especially if its a short 20 minute nap. I find a lot of the work I do quite boring and it's draining for this reason. A lot of the work I do for pay is repetitive and even the writing work feels like it is going nowhere to me. I'm so sorry! This can really be though.

Try to do a grounding exercise before every creative writing session. Also, perhaps being more mindful during the day can help a lot. For instance, try to focus on your breath for a few seconds a few times a day while you're working on other more mundane projects. This may help you later when you have to switch to creative writing.
I apologize if this is a little Debbie Downer. It was just things I was thinking of. No worries at all. I think being this honest with what's happening in your mind and heart can really help you be more productive in the future. Take care! Irene
