Wow! Today is December 3rd already, which means the year is nearly over. I love this time of year, because you can assess how you are did during the year.
A great way to end this year, and motivate yourself for the coming year, is to make a list of all your successes in 2020.
What are you proud of accomplishing this past year?
Put everything you can think of on your list.
Maybe you're proud of the fact that you created and stuck to a regular writing schedule this year.
Put that at the top of the list.
Maybe you signed up for an online workshop and completed all the assignments.
If so, put it on the list.
Maybe you're proud that you submitted dozens – or at least several – queries to various publications this year.
Put it on the list.
Best of all, maybe you managed to gain some publication credits during the past 12 months.
Put these down on your list.
Now...place this list next to or over your writing desk, so you can see it every morning to remind yourself of the progress you've made.
This is not an exercise in berating yourself as it is to celebrate your accomplishments. So, if you didn't accomplish much because of circumstances beyond your control, take this time to regroup. Set small goals for the year, and then try to achieve these one day, one week, and one month at a time.
Try it!
