Hi All,

Here is your March build your business challenge.

This month, we are all about starting the practise of creating and publishing your first e-book. I hope to really have you making some secondary money from your writing. And this is your ticket towards doing just that!(y)

Enjoy this month's challenge!(y):)

I'm not sure why I'd publish an e-book. Looks like this is for non-fiction writers?

But, I have not written a first draft of the book I workshopped end of February because I've been getting my website built and social media squared away. That's done except for a tab titled "About the Book".

I now have to go through the proofreads my publisher sent. Once that is back I can get going on an outline for that story because I got a feeling a draft is now going to have to wait until summer. :(

I'm taking Story structure Safari again in April and was planning to pull an old idea out of mothballs and work it. Now I'm uncertain. I have a piece I kinda did a safari on a year ago September and just didn't finish the class. I'm thinking I should tighten that one up some.

So. I'm very undecided.

Hey Mindy, Pretty sure we've all been here in terms of project uncertainty but good job on the website :D. If you post your updated website link we can hop over there and give you a little traffic  as a reward for all your hard work.

In terms of the e-books, I'm not sure how I'll pull it off either but I learned from last fall when Irene had us write a children's book that stretching every which way as a writer makes me stronger. Ideally it's nice to offer your readers something when they visit your website rather than their feeling like you want something from them. So I'd like to format this camping supplies list that I have up as a word document on my website into a free e-book because then I can track its downloads better and to get it you have to come to my site (rather than just email it around). I'm also going to work on an ebook format my RWA chapter because we teach classes sometimes and that can be converted. :love:Lisa

So the e-book is more of a Great Big Blog Post having something to do with our novels? Hmmm...

My brain is fried. People on the east coast are getting up and I haven't been to bed yet. But the sites are done. I sent the links off to my publicists. Hopefully any comments are helpful.

Here are all my links - friend me, follow me, I'll do the same back. Sign up for my mailchimp.

Okay, I did not see this one coming o_O.
But as soon as I thought about it I had a few ideas.
Which will be hard to pull off.
This is why they're called challenges .

Hi Lisa,

You will do well! Let me know if you have any questions.

Take care,
Irene

Hi Mindy,

Sorry it took me a bit of time to respond to this! My internet was down all weekend, and I was playing catch up yesterday...(y)

Start slowly with this idea. I love Lisa's idea of just trying to stretch yourself as a writer. That is one of the goals of these challenges.

You need to write e-books mostly so that you can have some secondary income coming in. Also, you write e-books to expand your horizons as a writer.

So, I hope you will take up the challenge.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Sorry it's taken so long for me to respond. We've had a lot of decisions and trips into Nashville to look at things for the new house.

I do want to publish an e-book at some later date, but right now I need to stay focused on revisions with my limited writing time. I'm feeling somewhat overwhelmed right now, which makes me feel like a slug considering all of your balls you're juggling, but I need to set my priorities. I'm saving all of this information and I'll try to be in the chatroom on Thursday. I may be in Nashville again, but I'm waiting to hear back from my builder.

I'm so excited for everyone. Wishing you the very best of luck with your e-books.

Hi Anne,

Oh, no worries. Just write an e-book whenever you are ready.

Let me also know if you would like a coaching call this month.

Take care!

Thanks, Irene. I'm slowly working on edits right now. I'm going to pass on a coaching call this month, but I know I will need one in April.
Hi Anne,

Okay, wonderful! I will be there for you.

Happy Easter!
