Hey Ladies!

This time of year is so full of wonder and hope, isn't it? We are all probably promising ourselves that we will do things better this year. We will be more successful. We will create new ways of acting and we will show up to write.

I love the hope of a brand new year too! We get to turn a new page on our lives and the freshness of this new, blank year is so uplifting. But to really have a great year and a successful year in 2020, we must do a bit of planning at this time of year. We have to set writing goals. We have to make sure that they are realistic, and we should write them down.

So, in the next few days, take out your writer's journal and take some time to do some reflecting. If you don't have a writer's journal, perhaps this is a good time to start one. A writer's journal is merely a notebook where you can write down your thoughts about your writing and also your successes. Its not a planner or a timetable. It is certainly a place to start thinking about this past year and how you can do things better. Now this is not a time to beat yourself up. Instead, it is a time to simply reflect on how things went and to celebrate your victories.

What I usually try to do is on one page, I reflect on how this year went for me. I will also reflect on what I could have done better. Further, I assess my habits. Could I revise certain habits so that I could ensure that I am more successful in 2020? For instance, could I do less surfing of the internet and watching television and more writing and reading? Can I plan writer's retreats when I can write with other writers online? (I will have a mini-intensive retreat for us in this mentoring program every Saturday from 1 to 3 pm EST. So, this will be a chance for you to write for two straight hours.)

In addition, are there habits that you can add into your writing life to ensue you are successful? Could you slow down and do less house cleaning or wasting time other ways so that you could spend more time writing? Could you rethink how you shop so that you can make more time to write? Can you use your crock pot or instant pot and add a few ingredients in the morning and have a good nutritious dinner in the evening without spending many hours in the kitchen? Can you take some time for yourself so that you could be more rested to write?

Therefore, take some time this week to reflect on your current habits and also on the new habits you would like to instil into 2020 to be your best and most successful. If you need help with any of these steps, I am here for you. Just reach out to me and book a coaching session and I can work with you one-on-one to make sure that you are successful.

May 2020 be the best year ever for you!
Happy New Year!
