Hi ladies,

This week, your challenge is to keep writing 5 to 6 days a week. But this week, your challenge is to not check email, text or use your tablet while you are writing.

One way that you can do that is to ensure that you really do nothing but focus on your writing when you write. Don't check email, text, or use your tablet. Ideally, don't research. Try to get all your research done BEFORE you sit down to write. Don't send out pitches to agents or do anything but write.

Before you can do that, you MUST decide on one goal that you want to achieve this week. So, that's why it is all the more important that you sit down and set your writing goals for the week. If you have business goals, such as sending out queries or pitching to agents, please keep those separate. This challenge is only for writing, and not for the business side of your writing or for research.

If you have been challenging yourself last week to write first thing in the day for 30 to 60 minutes, then this week's challenge should be easier for you. This is because when you write before everything and everyone gets going, you won't be as likely to tune into your tech gadgets or internet. Just leave them in another room, write for 30 to 60 minutes, and then you can join the world.

If you achieve this goal 5 to 6 days out of 7, you win 5 stars.

So, there you have it!

Stay home, stay safe, and write!

I have to write first thing. If I don't, there are just too many distractions in the day. Then my writing time gets choppy. I'm still working through those times, but it is SO much easier to start writing first thing. This is my third week in a row of writing first thing. I am over a third of the way through with my first draft. YAY. I'm so excited with my progress. I'm getting to the point where if I don't write first thing, I feel guilty.

Delighted to report I have written 5 days this week. I've added lots of new words to my novel. I'm over half-way through the first draft. This is the third consecutive week I've written every week day. I'm very happy with my progress. I'm hoping to finish the draft in May. YAY.

Thur 4/30 - wrote 2.5 hours (evening)
Fri 5/01 - did not write (hard day at work)

Sat 5/02 - will write 1:00-4:00pm in Retreat

I held off pitching to agents and editors this week. Focused on tightening up my short story with your feedback and submitted to TWO contests with Sisters in Crime and Level Books, associated with Mystery Writers of America. I am members with both of these writing organizations. I am pleased that my writing is happening like clockwork at least 5 out of 7 days the past 2 weeks.
