Irene, I liked this assignment because it inspired me to flip the equation.
Meaning, I got realistic about how much time I would joyfully give to my family every day.
Then I put this into my schedule this week. During those times if I kept writing, I felt guilty so I stopped and was much more "present."
That made it much, much easier to shut them down when they started encroaching beyond 6 hours.
In my head, 6 hours a day devoted to teenagers, young adults, one granddaughter and a very able husband is more than enough
but I have been doing more, and resenting it.
So here's where my worksheet went:
6 hours/day x 7 days family = 42 hours
2 hours/day x 7 days self = 14 hours
6 hours/day x 6 days writing = 36 hours
8 hours/day x 7 days sleep = 56 hours

Total: 148 hours (out of 168, leaving 20 for other obligations and "wiggle room")
As to the "why" for 36 hours of writing time, my TBI rehab is complete as of next month and I need to either sell some stories or find a part-time job within the next six months (as my income switches from full to partial disability). If I can't sell the stories, then getting a part-time job is fine but I don't want to squander this time when the clarity of my thinking and processing speed are better and I have more time to write. 36 hours a week is about the limit of my writing concentration at this point, although I'd like to build this up to about 42 hours/week to make the most headway (7 hours/day x 6 days) within the next month to give myself the best chance at success.
