Hi all!

Happy June!

We are at the mid-point of the year! Its hard to believe!:)

Please take some time to determine what your goals are for this month and this week.

When you have the list, please post it under this thread.

Take care, all, and let's all have a wonderfully productive month!
Be sure to join me for some sprints. I will be putting up my sprint schedule very soon. Stay tuned for that!

Have a GREAT weekend!

Goals for the Week of June 3, 2019

Continue going through my first draft chapter by chapter and develop an outline.

I have identified the plot and sub-plot (Yeah, I know, I'm doing everything backwards!). Therefore, I need to get my story in line with them and cut out the fat. (What does everyone do with those nuggets of genius and then you realize they don't work? Save them for something else? Or is that too complicated?)

My story is a Romance/Time Travel with a HFN ending.

Hi all,

So, my first goal is enjoy my last week of 34 ;-) My birthday is on Monday the 10th. Haha. And then to survive my triathlon and co-birthday party with my soon-to-be two year old on Sunday.

Alright. Actual writing goals.

Month of June
• Outline DG 4 - when I get to scene breakdowns focus on GCM & Scene Sequel structure. Make sure I focus on the 'why' and 'how' and also set up where as I work to expand from broad strokes to building up the outline.
• Draft Cozy novella
• Possibly consider my DG prequel novella outline.

This week
• Spend 20 minutes per day poking holes in my DG 4 outline and answering the questions that come up. – why does x happen? how does x tie into the theme? how can I make x worse for my characters, etc?
• Shoot for 1 chapter/day of my cozy novella. At least 500 words x 6 days.

Thanks! I've done longer races before, but it's the first Olympic distance I'm doing post-baby, and I'm not sure if I'm really training enough. But... I'm signed up for three of them this summer. We'll see how this weekend goes. And our party is the same day as the race (but with enough buffer for a mom and toddler nap time so long as he actually naps at a decent time).

My goals for the week are much humbler than Mel's.
  1. I've finished reading my YA dystopian MS but still don't know what to do with it. So I'm planning to try outlining it to see if that reveals any insights.
  2. Draft & publish a blog article
  3. submit travel article idea to another magazine

I can't believe we're at the half way point in the year already! For June, my goals reflect a retooling in anticipation of the end of the school year:

  1. Draft one PB text
  2. Embark on next steps with YA dystopian
  3. Keep number of agents with MG MS at 10 (i.e. if I get a rejection from one, submit a query to a new agent same week)
  4. Submit one travel article pitch, or one short story, or one blog pitch to a new publication each week
