Carrie Lofty, Freelance Acquiring Editor at Carina Press

Currently looking for: Contemporary romance, Paranormal romance, Romantic suspense, LGBTQ+ romance in all adult genres. No YA or women’s fiction, please.

I love snappy dialogue, cheeky humor and a dry, sarcastic wit. On the flipside, I can never resist beautifully rendered angst. No matter the tone, wrap me in the world you create. I need to be invested in characters’ dreams and desires, and why they can’t (initially) be happy together. What is important to them? “High stakes” doesn’t mean the end of the world. I’m skewing heavily toward low-angst, feel-good stories with tropes such as friends-to-lovers, bodyguards, reconciliations, and homecomings.

Some special interests: romantic comedies, adrenaline junkies, gentle bruisers, and LGBTQ+ romantic suspense.

About Carrie:

Carrie got her start as an editor in 2008 when she joined Chicago North RWA. As Manuscript Chair, she led critiques for Courtney Milan, Julie Ann Walker, Meredith Duran, Julie James, and Sarah M. Since joining Carina Press, her projects include Christmas Catch by Mary Shotwell (Nov 2018), New Ink on Life by Jennie Davids (May 2019), and Hour of the Wolf by USA Today bestseller Dana Marie Bell. Upcoming projects will include two titles for the new Carina Adores imprint.
