The Sweetheart Line

Currently looking for: The Sweetheart line acquires contemporary stories that focus on the developing romance between the protagonists. Be sure to include all those luscious firsts (first awareness, first touch, first trusting moment, first kiss) that romance readers love. My personal favorites are small-town settings with reunion stories and single parent stories. But the line is open to plots of all types in global settings that fit here–meaning no murders or espionage or depicted sexuality.

About The Wild Rose Press:The Wild Rose Press opened its doors in May of 2006. Within twenty-four hours, submissions starting arriving. Today, TWRP has an editorial staff of 30 supported by a staff of 7 cover artists and a behind-the-scenes crew of product production and marketing staff. The company is proud to count 350 authors and more than 3,000 published titles as part of TWRP family.

Title: Losing Richard
Genre: Literary Non-fiction, Memoir
Length: 89,000
Author: Yvonne deSousa

In this compelling coming-of-age story, we meet Richard, a goofy and handsome man, and Yvonne, an insecure, awkward teenage girl, who enter into an inappropriate relationship.

Their lifelong connection begins in the 80’s during the off season in Provincetown, MA, an eclectic harbor town unlike any other, and seems to fit, despite objections from family and rumors of Richard’s cocaine abuse.

As Richard falls deeper into the hook of addiction, he remains the one person who can show Yvonne how to stand up for herself and be the woman he knows she can be.

S.J., the Sweetheart line doesn’t handle stories with suspense elements. From the pitch I can’t tell how much of the plot revolves around the suspense element. In the transmittal email, include a 2-6 paragraph synopsis, as well as any publishing credits and the links to your online presence (Facebook, Website, blog, twitter, etc.) [email protected].

If the suspense element is a substantial part of the plot, I encourage you to look at the company website (thewildrosepress.com) under Submissions and decide which of the other lines (Crimson or Mainstream Mystery) best suits your novel then follow guidelines to submit through the [email protected] email.
