I was really excited about this class. I wrote an outline for a thriller, and I was getting ready to look for thriller writing classes when a friend told me about this class. I initially thought it was a live workshop via zoom or webinar but was very disappointed to learn it was "forum based." And instead of a flipped classroom experience with an on-demand video we watched and then later participated in discussion via message boards, a segment of text (called "lectures") was posted every M-W-F along with a "homework" prompt. It was extremely disappointing that the "lectures" were things you could easily find in a google search, and the homework assignments were things like "share your ideas for five thrillers on the message boards." So....we give our ideas away?? During the course, only one person participated and actually shared their ideas on the message board. The other homework assignments were things like, share the opening to one thriller idea. It was beyond basic. I didn't learn anything valuable. The only upside is the class was only $30 so it's not a huge amount of money to be out. I would have been trying to get a refund if it was any more than that. Based on this experience, I will not be doing any additional SavvyAuthors classes.
