You've finished the first draft, so what's next? Learn how to battle the show vs tell issue and discover easy self-editing tips to help that draft sparkle.
- Syllabus
- Week 1: learn about show vs tell and read commons misuses of it. Participants would go through five practice scenarios of rewording paragraphs in a chat-like forum and end with each member providing a one page example from their work, where they feel they struggle with it, for feedback.
Week 2: Easy self editing tricks! The lesson would go over five key areas where writers struggle in the first draft: filter words, clutch words, too much stage direction, word echoes, and dialogue tags. Participants would then do a self-check on their draft where go through a list of errors and document the easy fixes.
Week 3: Writers edit and adjust their first chapter of their story and submit to instructor for feedback!
