CELEBRATION CORNER

**Update** I just realized that I have three submission requests. I was verifying one of the submissions to make sure I give them what they wanted, and I found out (accidentally), someone I didn't submit to wants me to query. Good thing I double checked!!!!!

I just found out that my short story, "The Ageless Art of Dating" will be published in the upcoming anthology, The Dating Game. The premise: What happens when a glitch in an online dating app sets a millennial up with three women old enough to be his grandmother? It's my first acceptance of 2022!
Congratulations, Shari!

Keep up the great work!

My short story, Two Little Words, was published last week on Yellow Mama Webzine. You can read it for free at: Two Little Words
This story features a young woman who copes with guilt and trauma in a self-destructive way. It was inspired by attending a virtual book reading of Unfreezing Trauma.
GREAT work, Shari!! All your hard work, patience and perspicacity are paying off!

Yay you!!!

Keep on going! You are on to better and better things!

My very first nonfiction piece about living with chronic illness was published by The Mighty today!

As you can see in the essay, I spent too many years pretending I wasn't sick all the time to make other people feel comfortable. When I did start to ask for accommodations, I had some really bad experiences. Publishing this piece is a big step for me in deciding to stop hiding. I have two other pieces about chronic illness already accepted at literary magazines that are coming up. And all of this started because of a class I took with Irene about writing short articles for kids. All I could write about was chronic illness -- because I'd never written about it before. It was really transformative!

Hi Camellia!!

Congratulations!! I am overjoyed for you. What an amazing article you wrote!! I am so proud of you for being so honest with the reader!

I'm so sorry that you struggle with chronic migraines! That's no fun at all! I suffer with migraines too. And I too have a few chronic conditions, one of them being osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia. I struggle daily too. So, I completely empathize.

I have two blogs devoted to my chronic illnesses. That is how I can release all those negative mindsets and feelings. Great job for really coming terms for how you feel. I know this isn't easy to do first-hand.

And congratulations on your other writing credits. You are doing so amazing!! I am so glad to have you in the mentoring program!! You will love it here. You won't feel as alone any longer. Writers need to write and celebrate their accomplishments together.

Thank you so much for your kind words about my workshop!

Looking forward to getting to know you more in this group.

Take good care,
Irene

It's been a good week! First, I found out my short story fairytale, "The Little Mermaid and the Kraken" was accepted for publication in an anthology. The next day another short story was rejected, but I sent it out to another editor who accepted it for publication on her webzine within an hour of my sending it to her! And I just received a contract for a story that was accepted earlier in a mystery magazine. I probably won't have another week like this ever, but it's great fun for now!
