Hi all,

Here is your first lesson for April.

This month is all about the importance of following-through. I know that a lot of you are struggling with that, and now that we are in the second quarter of the year, we must reassess how we are doing on our writing goals, and seeing what are next steps are to make this next quarter better or at least as good as the previous one.

So, please be sure to complete the assignment by next Sunday!

Take care, and have a great week!
Irene

What are your writing goals for the year? If you don’t know what they are, now is the time to really determine what you would like to determine.
To continue to find new ways to connect to my readers
To get one book published and a second written and subbed
To enter at least three contests
To continue to grow at my craft

Write a two page summary of your writing life as you see it now. Do you follow-through?

I see my life as chaotic. I move from one deadline to the next and squeeze in things as I can. There is no order. I don't really need two pages to see this. With my husband deployed, it seems worse since I have no one else to rely on to run kids places and help with homework, but it is something I am used to doing. I don't feel there are enough hours in the day to accomplish house stuff, family stuff, writing, editing, proofreading, and everything else I want and need to do.

What do you think following-through is? Compare your characterization of following through before the workshop to your definition now.

Honestly, follow-through to me is completing a task fully. My feelings about following through are the same. My ability to follow a task through is easier when I have a set deadline that I can't miss. That is still as true now as it was at the beginning of the workshop.

Write a one page summary of where you would like to be in your writing career in one or two years.
Again, I don't need to write anything long. I truly know that in one year, I would like to have one book published and keeping up with the marketing of it while I am subbing my second one. I would like to have a solid foundation for my writing career and working on building on that.
