January is a great time to decide what your long and short-term goals will be for 2024.

With that in mind, this month’s challenge is to decide on 1 to 3 (no more than 3) writing goals for the year.

Use your Success Journal to record these goals. You may want to start a Success Journal if you haven’t already done so.
I will say more about what a Success Journal is in another article coming soon. So, stay tuned.

Once you decide on your writing goals, decide what action steps you will take this month to get closer to completing those goals.

For example, if one of your goals is to write a new novel in 2024, your action steps this month towards that goal might be to:

1. Outline the novel (chapter by chapter) with plot points, pinch points, climax, resolution, etc.

2. Create character profiles for each of the major characters.

3. Write one chapter each week this month.

By taking these steps in January, you will be setting yourself up for success in 2024.

I attach some new goal sheets for your convenience so that you can decide on your goals and print them off or leave them on your computer.

When you finish deciding on your goals, please post them under this thread.

Take care, and let's make this year the best yet!

Irene Roth
