What are you working on? Is it coming along smoothly? Or coming along not as smoothly?

Feel free to share the project that you are working on.

I can go first! I had been working on a sports romance for way too long. I've since shifted to plotting a mafia romance. I'm stalled with the sports romance and want to try my hand at something different. I have no idea why, but I'm going to go with it.

Anyone else struggle to finish a project so they jump to something brand new?

I used to jump to the next shiny project... So I have tons of partly finished stories. Once I started writing novel drafts in one month, I had many completed drafts that I could choose from to begin reviewing. Writing fast drafts seems to work for me. That way, I don't get bored with the story/characters, and there's less space for new shiny ideas to take over.

I'm revising an urban fantasy novel, Soul Weaver. I have completed a draft of a techno fantasy, which I continue to develop through notes and plan the revision.

For nonfiction, I started posting a new blog series and the next monthly newsletter.

I've just finished editing my legal thriller/mystery, Grave Risk.
Murder, racism, and small-town corruption collide when an attorney arrives in a lawless Texas Panhandle town to uncover her daughter’s killer.

I've been querying my queer sci-fi heist romance, set in a universe where humans are the scariest aliens out there. (It's the sharp teeth and claws, and their impossible speed and strength. Obviously.) I MAY have written and/or outlined two more books for a trilogy and a half-dozen short stories set in the same universe, but I'd like to get the first one finalized before I commit to finishing those. I've got a couple partials out right now, and have an editor at a Big 5 imprint who liked one of my Bluesky posts during a pitch event.

My current project is a YA fantasy series about magic-using teenage pickpockets in a mediterranean-esque city that's somewhere between Venice and Istanbul. They also do parkour!

Yay, Catherine! Good luck on the partials! Fingers are crossed for the Big 5 editor. I have to tell you that I LOVE the premise. Your YA fantasy series sounds fantastic too!

Please keep us posted. Thanks so much for responding!
