I write fantasy (with a dash of scifi) romance, and I'd like to get into a proper mystery story someday soon.

Where do you recommend I hang out?

I tried to register for SavvyWriterCon, and I got this message:

"You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action."

I used to be able to "watch" upcoming classes, which was a great way to keep track of classes I was interested in but wasn't sure about. That option is gone.

Hi all! I write sci-fi/space opera books, in my first query process now and trying to find any resources I can for pitch, query, and other contests. Pretty much anything that will help me build my platform and get my work in front of readers (and agents and editors) faces! (Well, anything other than scams and predatory paid services LOL...so much nonsense out there!)

I pitched two authors today, but my pitch doesn't show up on the pages. Should I try it again or does it take a certain amount of time to show up? Please help!!

Still exploring the site, not sure how to access certain classes. Keeps telling me I don't have permission to view. Any advice would be appreciated.

Do Savvy Authors receive a summary of results from editors/agents/publishers as to success stories from pitchfest rounds? For example, if there were MS requests in the Feb rounds, how many of them have evolved as rejections, R&R's, contracts etc? Probably too early to collate, as it's only been 2 months ... But ... would love to hear success stories and who's had nibbles and progress, when the data is available.

I am taking a class that starts tomorrow, 4/8. How does it work? Can I attend on my own schedule? Thanks!

I'm wondering if anyone's worked with any of these editors before or can recommend who to choose based on genre?

I'm looking to write some YA superhero. I had trouble telling from their profiles which of the editors would be the best fit. I know some noted an interest in YA and SF, but who to choose?

Hi Everyone, I'm poking around the site again after being away for 7+ years. Took a while to figure out how to log back in, but it looks like my account is still here--hopefully this is the right account. How are Ya'll doin' today? I'm very happy to have found you. Think I'm gonna enjoy this site. Yes, I am from Texas & I write the way I speak, unless it's official, then I'll use my better English. Anyway lookin' forward to learning more about SavvyAuthors & what I can contribute as well.

Though a long-time member, I haven't used this site. A couple of weeks ago, I quit my job to devote myself full time to writing. Besides writing on a regular schedule, participating in SavvyAuthors seems like the next logical step.

I don't want emails from each thread in the class as each post comes in. Instead,, I can log in and read them. I thought I turned the emails off, but evidently not. How do I do that?

I read on in the description of the Pitchfest that one's manuscript needs to be finished with a "pass or few of edits." How polished does it need to be in order to pitch? Pristine?

I have a manuscript that is drafted and I've done a developmental edit, so the story elements won't change from here on. I'm revising now for flow and errors. It might take another month or two to get it perfected. Should I pitch or wait for another pitchfest?

I'd appreciate any words of advice from veterans.

Hi everyone! Working on the first draft of a romance novel set on Cape Cod. I welcome any and all tips, hints, etc. I'm having difficulty just writing "fast and hot" to get the story done. I get bogged down revising as I go. I do have a question about my setting...it's set in Chatham, Mass. I'm using some actual names such as beaches, etc., but am using fake names for real establishments. Is this the correct way to handle this?
