7th Annual SavvyAuthors WriterCon

Writing Life 7th Annual SavvyAuthors WriterCon

I particularly appreciated the convenience of accessing classes at-will and appreciated the variety of topics. I particularly learned a lot in Lori's course on high concept. I didn't get a chance to view the webinars but will view them when they post later this week. It's amazing that it's free as well.

My only point for improvement might be clarification on the pitches, and it's really more for peace of mind. It would be great to know when and if we will get a response. Will only authors with requests receive a response? And does the request go to our email or to the thread we originally pitched in?

Hi Angela, sorry for the confusion around when you will hear. Each of the agents and editors has their own style for how and when they give feedback. BUT...we will have the full list of requests in two weeks, that would be for the October 1 newsletter. And thanks for reminding me , I will post this.
I have enjoyed the 7th WriterCon. Unfortunately it was not good timing to participate "live," but I'm still reading through the posts (after it's ended). My only complaint is that finding the flow can be difficult in this site. I find myself re-reading the same things, and it's easy to get lost with a wrong click. I've focused on the High Concept (Lori Wilde). Great workshop!
The forums were great. I was able to get some notes that will help me with my current WIP and future books.
I haven't seen the webinars yet so difficult to rate those. I do wish they were available. I couldn't attend them live due to time zone differences.

The workshops were informative. I especially would like to flag the High Concept lessons as terrific. For future versions, it would be nice to either have more time for feedback or get quicker feedback, but overall I'd give this particular session 5/5.

The World Building session involved a lot of downloads. I must admit to giving up. If the information had been in the forum threads I think more discussion may have occured.

I'm still a bit unclear on how we will know if our pitches to the agents/editors have been successful. But, it seems they haven't had a chance to reply to many yet, so maybe it's a matter of time.

Hi, Aquawrites. The recordings of all the webinars will be posted in the Webinar forums. :) Let us know if you cannot find them. They should be there by the end of the week at the very latest.
I loved Lori Wilde's High concept class, and Becky Martinez's research class. I always get some information out of every class I take.

Thank you for putting on the conference. I enjoyed it, even though I was lurked rather than posted.
Great conference! Wow- so many wonderful presenters and helpful topics. The fact that each one of these presenters made themselves available to read posts, answer questions and help with our work is amazing. Thanks to all!

I've taken several Savvy workshops, and now will be sure to take more, especially by those presenters this weekend.

The webinars were fantastic- nice variety of topics. I'd love to see Savvy offer more webinars throughout the year. Sometimes a focused hour on a toooc is exactly what I need.

Thanks to the organizers and presenters for a very well-run conference.

Thank you so much for the Annual SavvyAuthors WriterCon. I took part in the Pitchfest, a few discussion/conferences and received some great resources. It is a wonderful free resource.
A great opportunity to pitch agents and editors. However, more clarification is needed regarding the next steps of the process. Why can't agents like your post immediately or email you directly??
As for the webinars, they are informative. A very good source for reference.
What's absolutely amazing about this conference is that it is free :)

Thanks Nessma. :) Each of the agents and editors has their own way of interacting in the pitchfests. We do ask that they give us the full list of requests so we can publish them by October 1. Some do post directly in the comments, though. :)
There were a lot of constructive ideas that I was able to take from WriterCon this year, thanks to all the authors who gave their time to this event. I learned new ideas and techniques that I hope to incorporate into my novels in the future.
informative, entertaining, tons of material to study after the conference ends, qualified instructors willing to help and engage, great feedback. Absolutely worth the time, and thank you so much to the team for this site and the conference. I'm loving it.
The pitch event alone is well worth a 5 star rating. It's not often a writer gets a leg up to pitch to such well respected professionals in the industry. Kudos to everyone who put together the line-up.
I loved that there was a mix of classes and webinars on a variety of topics, making sure there was something for everyone and enough to keep us busy for the entire weekend. The timing is also great because it's after summer vacation, before the holidays, and prior to NaNoWriMo.
It was very easy to pitch the agents. The instructions were very clear.
Too difficult to follow anything. And I'm on a PC.

Hi Fiona. We try to make the site accessible and are always happy to get feedback. Feel free to email us at support @ savvyauthors.com if you would like to give us details. We have time before the Con begins and can likely address at least a few issues. :) thanks!
