Creating an Author Podcast with Deb Bailey

Business Creating an Author Podcast with Deb Bailey

Hi Deb,

When I decided to take this course, I had a simple goal: to find a spark—any spark—that would inspire me to start writing again. This course has not only met that goal but far exceeded my expectations. I am leaving with three potential storylines and the character sketch of a fearless female protagonist (a wolf) for a future novel or short story.

Thank you for creating such an informative and inspiring learning experience. I’ve printed all the lessons and will revisit them often as I work on my future retellings.

Wishing you a joyful holiday season and all the best in the year ahead!

Joanne
Really enjoyed this class on writing romance for older characters! It was packed with useful tips and information and the instructor was engaging and responsive to all our questions and about anything we submitted for the exercises. Great class! Will look out for future classes offered by Deb to take.
Deborah packed so much great information into just a few days! She was so enthusiastic and really seemed to want to connect with, and help her students. I learned so much about backstory and how to bring my "older" characters to life. I definitely will take other courses with her in the future.
Deborah provided good information and was interesting. Lots of useful ways to include back story.
I get so much out of Deb's classes. Her lectures are very informative and easy to read and absorb. Deb is generous with her critiques, giving thorough and helpful feedback. A Savvy Star, for sure. Thank you, Deb.
Really straightforward advice on how to determine an audience and build a blog presence. Great workshop.
Wonderful class. Clear, easy lessons with samples of deep point of view. Very attentive instructor. Deborah encouraged students to submit their work for feedback and provided detailed, encouraging critiques.
This class helped me understand Deep POV better. She gave a lot of tips and examples on how to deepen POV in my writing.
I loved Deborah Bailey's Fairy Tale Retellings class. Not only did she go over the basics of the genre, she also allowed us to share our work and encouraged us to engage with our fellow students in classroom discussions and by sharing our own works and ideas. It was a very fun class and I feel I learned more about this type of writing. It also generated some wonderful ideas for me for my own works in progress. I would recommend this class to anyone who loves fairy tales or fantasy no matter what age range you write in. It has something for everyone.
I enjoyed the information and links provided by Deb. Her posts were lengthy and insightful. I also appreciated her responses given to all members. On a side note, I thought maybe one of my posts would go unanswered (though my other ones received a comment), but she found time to go back through the days of the course and answer those she hadn't done so immediately for. I'm sure it's time consuming to go back and look, but it was very nice to see her take that time.
I learned a lot about fairy tales through Deb’s exercises and examples. She gave each class member prompt and thorough feedback. I would definitely take a class from her again. My only complaint is the class length. Two weeks is too short for such an interesting topic.
Deb Bailey's course was well presented. She was very kind to add an extra discussion for those of us struggling with sagging middle plots. This meant she went out of her way to help us. I also appreciated her tip about building the story arc for a secondary character as a means to shore up a sagging middle plot. Very happy to have taken this course!
Great class! Deb was very knowledgeable in her topic and took the time to thoroughly answer all my questions in depth.
I always enjoy Deborah's classes, this one especially. Her writing examples always show how things should effectively be accomplished. Whether you put sex on the page or lead up to a closed-door, Intimate Scenes without Going All the Way, is about learning to show characters' thoughts, emotions and myriad senses to create powerful scenes of intimacy. There are so many ways to approach lovemaking--without the mechanics--than I ever considered. Deborah's own writing examples opened my eyes to the effectiveness of showing the many ways a reader can experience the characters' intimacy: a simple look, a gesture or a few private words or full on sex. Understanding the arsenal of "tools" a writer can use to write these scenes, I now know that there are more options than tab A and tab B.

Deborah's feedback on class homework is always inciteful and helpful. I think this is a class any writer of romance should take.
I really enjoyed my class with Deborah Bailey. She is an excellent instructor who provided great tips and helpful feedback.
Tons of great information from Deb Bailey and I love that she included screen shots to help navigate through everything!
Deborah Bailey's workshop very helpful. The material she presented was useful and I appreciated her advice.
The class was super, I found a lot of amazing details and have been able to improve my craft.
Deb is an inciteful, inspirational teacher. As reunion and other second chance romances continue to be a popular trope, Deb covers all of the appropriate aspects necessary for a successful "together again" story. Beginning with building interesting characters who readers will love, she guides you through creating conflict and how, and when, to use backstory. I'm glad to have found such an excellent teacher and have signed up for her next Savvy workshop.
I appreciated Deb getting into my assignments and asking excellent questions that truly made me think and go deeper into the minds of my characters. I've also signed up for another one of her classes in January 2021.
