Self-publishing has become a highly effective route for many writers these days. Companies such as IngramSpark have made the once perilous and costly self-publishing journey more accessible to everyone. However, going through the publishing process still requires a lot of research, work, and dedication.

In this course, you'll learn all the ins and outs of how to work with IngramSpark and eliminate any fears or confusion about the process.

This intensive will cover:

Friday: Welcome to IngramSpark
  • What Is IngramSpark?
  • Why does it appeal to so many authors?
  • What does it take to make self-publishing through IngramSpark work?

Saturday: The Ins and Outs of IngramSpark
  • How to set up your account
  • Where to get ISBNs and why you should have your own imprint
  • How to format your cover and interior (or where to find someone to do it for you)
  • Formulating your metadata
  • Navigating IngramSpark’s resources and courses (Guess what? They’re free!)
  • Adding your book’s information - a step by step guide
  • Self-ordering and distribution

Sunday: The Else
  • Other self-publishing companies available
  • Starting your own mini publishing house?
  • Don’t give up! Words of inspiration for getting through the self-publishing slog. (and, let’s face it, the querying slog if you’re sticking to it)
Class Format
Savvy Authors' intensives are held on a forum: a bulletin board based system. You will receive a reminder notice one day prior to the start of the workshop that includes instructions on how to access the workshop forum. If you have not received instructions by the day the workshop begins, please check your spam filter.

The forum will be available the morning (EST) of the day the workshop starts and will remain accessible to all participants thereafter.

Lots of great information. There are so many options/paths to publishing currently that keeping on top can be overwhelming. Nice to have nuggets of information to break the process down.
Great information! Very informative class with great content that made indiepublishing a little less scary to think about! I will be using all this information as I embark on my first indiepublishing endeavor.
