How to title a class
Hurrah! You are going to teach a class for SavvyAuthors! We are thrilled to have you on board. Here are some best practices when considering how to title your class and provide information about what a participant will learn from you. This information is critical to the success of your class so we are providing our best practices on how to title and class and provide information for your class!
- Titles should be:
- Short ( no more than 9 words and 60 characters).
- Descriptive.
- The key takeaway a student will learn from your class should be in your title.
- What emoji would you add? We can use them in your promo.
- We also use additional Preview Text on both the site and on our promotions. This is an additional short sentence that we use in the listing and in the promo.
- The Preview Text should be descriptive but may be funnier and showcase your voice.
- Titles should not:
- Be cute, funny, or make allusions to other things – do add anything that makes a reader wonder about the class's content. If you do that, they will pass on your class.
- Contain metaphors or similes – use clear simple language.
- Description / Summary / Syllabus
- Expand on the key item in the title and provide more detail such as related topics and how you will cover them
- List what people will learn
- List any information that you want them to have
- Provide any background that would be useful for the student
- Do not be cute, funny or make allusions to other things. Most people just want to know what they will learn.
Use these suggestions and your class will have better registrations and the participants will be happier with your content!
