Three years on from Egypt, Anna Davies embarks on her first cruise with best friend Sandra. A few days into the holiday they are woken by three blasts from the ship’s foghorn, indicating that someone has fallen overboard. A woman is lost at sea; the ship turns around to search for her, but she has disappeared into the night.

Was it suicide? Did she lose her balance and fall - or was there foul play involved? Did her husband push her? Would anyone be able to prove whether this was murder or an unfortunate accident?

Newbie, more or less :)

Hi from the sunny North Coast of Spain!
Even though it's been ages I've been around SavvyAuthors, it's been a long time I haven't logged in or attended any workshop.
Not that I have a lot of time. I work at my town hall attending people with disabilities and their families, and also run a family. But I plan to publish a few small-ish novelettes in Spanish this year as a way to increase the income that gets home so I need to get to know the nuts and bolts of self publishing and how to use social media to the most.

Hello from freezing Nova Scotia

Hi all - was linked to this site through the upcoming class on forensics in mystery - looks interesting! I'm a scatterbug writer - depending on the character, I may end up writing mystery, literary fiction, or poetry. I've had some luck with publication in humour, short story, mystery, and non-fiction, but am now working on some longer works - a non-fiction book about MS and intimate relationships, and a few novellas I've been working on for years. It's time to send them into the world... I'm an artist/crafter in my other life, making
I'm an artist/crafter in my other life, making needlefelted creatures and people and exploring other fibre arts.

Heading to the Iceland Writers Retreat in a few weeks and so excited!

Hello, fellow writers.

Hello,

I'm a writer of middle grade fiction and member of SCBWI Carolinas. I'm looking forward to taking part in some of the webinars and classes and would be interested in more pitch workshops, since I'm hoping to pitch my MG novel this coming year. My novel's been in the works for almost two years now. I love writing, and look forward to growing in the craft.

Table Rock newbie

My husband and I are retired and are volunteer workcampers in South Carolina. That helps keep us busy, but on my time off I get bored. I am creative and previously owned a Tailor Shop in Illinois. I have had surgery on both hands and no longer sew. Looking for another creative outlet. Thank you so much for giving me an opportunity to learn from all levels of experience with the art of writing. Persephone's Song Anthology

{td=677x@}
Journey from the Underworld to Outer Space in this collection of romance stories inspired by the Greek Goddess Persephone.
Persephone's Light: In this retelling of the Greek myth, the Goddess of Spring finds love in the darkness of the underworld, but her bad-boy Hades is trying too hard to be good.
Weather Witch: Regency Nobleman Lord Godfrey is negotiating for a wife, until Meredith literally storms into the Manor. Then all bets are off as he tries to tempt the tempestuous nymph into marrying him.
Persephone's Daughter: Being blackmailed into performing a deadly task for her father is bad enough, but now Persephone's daughter, Nerina, is falling in love with a human in modern Las Vegas.
Space in the Fall: When an informant encourages Jericho Crux, leader of the Saturn Alliance, to accept negotiations with the Earth Confederacy he takes his chances. He didn't expect the double-crosser to be a sexy Marine full of surprising secrets.
Defeating Evil: Evil is hunting for worlds to conquer. In contemporary New Orleans, a witch and an ancient hunter are the only ones standing between Evil and its total domination over the Universe.
No matter the time or place, Persephone's Song will be heard by all who desire a spark of romance.

Hi all!

I was searching for an article on writing romantic women's fiction vs romance or women's fiction and found this site along with the article I needed.
Romantic Women’s Fiction—A New Face to Old-Style Women’s Fiction by Cynthia Racette - SavvyAuthors
I liked what I'd read and as I fumbled around, I decided to join. :)
Looking forward to learning more about SavvyAuthors!

Looking for someone to read my first few chapters...

I am writing a novel for the first time and have just started. I feel like I can't be the first person to start writing and want to have someone read over what they wrote and give their honest opinion. The novel is a drama based on some time I spent in drug and alcohol rehab. Please let me know if anyone is interested. I would of course be more than happy to read someone else's work and return the favor.

Hi y'all!

Not new, old, but been gone a while. Re-hi to you all :)

I've been busy editing and doing my "virtual secretary" work from home, slowly building it, then realizing, hey, I'm not getting any of MY writing done! So, I've dropped back from the "work" quite a bit, keeping a few clients (a girl's gotta go to cons after all haha).

Anyway, hope you all are writing in the New Year!

Excited to Join Savvy Authors

Hello everyone! I just officially joined the group (I have been getting the newsletter for a few months). I am excited to be here. I will poke around the site to learn more about what offerings there are, and other resources and tools. I am signing up for the Plotting online class that starts tomorrow (January 9) with Becky Martinez. I may do the entire 2-part series if the first class goes well!

Like many of you I'm sure, I've had a life-long love affair with the written word. I have been keeping a journal, by long-hand, since I was 8 years old. My non-fiction book, "The Ultimate Life Organizer: An Interactive Guide to a Simpler, Less Stressful & More Organized Life" was published by Peter Pauper Press in 2011. I have published many articles on topics such as productivity, life-work balance, business, law, and entrepreneurship.

But in the last few months, I have been drawn back to my first love of creative writing, and I am presently working on a novel and a memoir. I am excited (and scared and nervous!) about fiction writing, and curious to see where it takes me after so many years of focusing on nonfiction pieces.

For the past four years, I've resided in beautiful Northern California with my veterinarian husband, where I am a professed community theater geek, an avid runner and cyclist, and enjoy spoiling my crazy but lovable rescue mutts!

Looking forward to connecting!

Warmly - Lisa

Apologies...I was 'upgrading' today and made an oops

Apologies everyone if you had issues accessing the site earlier today. I messed up a server file (Proofread, Leslie, PROOFREAD) and did not catch a typo, so some of the direct links to the site looked odd to be sure. >.<

Anyway, thanks to the tireless efforts and txt message of @Walker I fixed it. Finally.

There were no data losses due to my phat phingers, the site just went sideways for a bit.

Thanks!
Leslie

Ready to become more active

Hello all, I'm Genevieve, a newbie.

I've been lurking for a while and getting to know Savvy Authors. Now I'm ready to become more active. I write speculative fiction that blends in elements of romance and maybe fantasy. I never feel quite knowledgeable enough about these genres. I worked out a four-part novel or series a while back. The four parts are too short to be individual novels, but together would add up to a monster, so I'm once again stumped about what to call it. Now I'm writing a prequel and wrestling with a sequel. My main goal as a writer is to find readers who would enjoy diving into my word worlds.

Where to start to self publish

Hello,
I would like to self publish the novel I have finished, but I'm not sure where to start. I'm looking for any tips or information on how to get started. I would like to have a couple of printed editions for the few friends and family that refuse to read e-books, but have it as an e-book for anyone else. I have done some searching online but there are so many different sites I'm not sure where to start. I have also found people that say they will e-publish for you for a fee. I don't want to put my book and money in just anyone's hands so I'm looking for something that other people have used and swear by. Any help would be great. Thanks, Rain

Hello, Newbie Here

Hello everyone! I'm new to this site and still learning my way around. I fellow writer friend of mine told me how wonderful and informative this site is, so I joined to learn more. I write novels in several different genres and poetry. I've been told I need to just stick to one genre but I don't like to put a cap on my imagination. I need to learn how to use descriptive writing better as I tend to go a little overboard with it. I do not have any published novels, but I have one finished and am weighing the pros and cons of self publishing. I have several poems published. I hope to participate in the classes and chats to gain more knowledge and advice on writing.

Hello All!

Hi there, my name is Kathryn and I am very new to SavvyAuthors. I used to be much more prolific in my writing but over the past few years I've fallen out of practice. I've taken some college writing classes, and am definitely going to look into the classes here. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what this site is about and getting to know more writers.

You'll probably see me around quite a bit, once I figure out how this site works!
