Hello from Central MA. Historicals, anyone?

Hi Judy!

Welcome to SavvyAuthors! We are thrilled to have you join us. Thanks for your note. We reach out and invite more than 300 publishing professionals to take part in our pitchfest. We reach out to genres across the board. This has been a really busy time for many publishing professionals so we received a lot of declines. Also, so many agents are closed to submission and not able to participate. I hope this helps. Please know that we work really hard to try to have pub pros taking pitches in genres.

Please let us know if you have any questions or need anything.

Hi Judy,
I live in Oxford, MA (likely near you?) and in Boston. I have a draft manuscript for which half of the dual timeline story is set in antebellum Kentucky (see martinredmon.com if you're interested). I'm just beginning to query now. I agree there appears to be little interest in historical fiction or lit fiction in general in the list of agents/publishers. I'll keep at it! BTW, let me know if you are part of a central Mass writing group with shared interest in that period of US history.
Best,
Martin

I live between Boston and the Berkshires and I've completed a Civil War Historical which I'm pitching now. I didn't see many requests for historical among the editors and agents. Did I miss something? My themes of the story are timeless: coming of age, sexism, racism and friendships that transcends time and place. Judith Carlough
Hi Judy,
I write historical, though for this Pitchfest it's a contemporary thriller. But I have a new release historical fiction in presales published by a publisher I found right here at the Autumn Pitchfest in 2022.
