As important as social media is in today’s world of marketing, a writer’s website is still a valuable asset as a home base for your marketing and for connecting with your fans. Additionally, self-publishers and those who provide writing services such as copywriting, editing, proofreading, graphic design, or book formatting definitely need to have a website.
However, website design can cost a lot of money. I know, I do it for others. I’m cheap, but still it can easily creep into the thousands.
The good news is that you can do it yourself. Today’s web design tools like WordPress allow you to create amazing websites yourself without writing a word of code or spending more than what you spend for your website host and domain name.
This course shows you the basics of creating a professional website for your writing business. That process begins before you even install WordPress. This course begins with you deciding on a focus for your site and creating a basic layout.
Then we will show you how to set up a basic writer’s website. You will learn how to use the blocks to create a site that works for you.
You will learn some design principles, ways to make your site load faster, and how to incorporate media into your website.
At the end of this course, You will have a complete five-page website ready to go. You will also learn some techniques for improving the functionality of your site. Additionally, you will learn ways to improve your search engine visibility.
*Please note that there will be a video component for this workshop.
