What better way to learn the ropes of sitting down with someone who can make your career, then to learn from someone who has sat across from Nora Roberts, Suzanne Brockmann, Clive Culler, Brenda Novak and Debbie MacComber and didn’t break a sweat. Jacqui Jacoby’s experiences at RWA conferences, both regional and at National, for networking, researching or just having fun has gotten her one on one time with the people who know best.

Writing the novel is the first step. Getting it in front of an agent or editor is the next. But it can be intimidating. They are powerful people who can make your writing career. Learning to approach them, send emails or even the most terrifying … sitting down across for a few minutes to talk about your passion project, your novel.

“Are you going going to call that editor?” Ms. Jacoby asked.

“Not if they had the codes to disarm the bomb under my chair …” replies her writing partner of a decade.

“I can help help you with that,” she says, trying to suppress the laugh.

Taking “Face to Face” will teach participants how to approach that editor or any other person you need to talk to.

Topics covered:
A) Why Do I Have to Talk to These People?
B) The Importance of Networking;
C) The Interview Part One: Getting it and Getting Ready;
D: The Interview Part: Part Two: Sitting Down with the Intimidating Face.

Other areas to be covered in this class will be how to do face to face when faces are miles apart.
