What exactly is a VINTAGE story? It’s sorta a story that might have played out in the world that our great-grandmothers, grandmothers, mothers, or we ourselves were born in and also were adults in. It’s also called The Twentieth Century.

Tales set during The Great War (aka WW I), the Roarin’ Twenties, the Thirties, during and after WW II, the Fifties, Sixties, Seventies – well, you get the idea.

Novels of romance, romantic suspense, cozy mystery, spy tales, and women’s fiction/coming of age, have become extremely popular in the past few years.

Time to consider jumping on the bandwagon?

We’ll not only visit these periods and pinpoint events that work well, we’ll look at how the various genres can meld with them to spin a story that, while it’s history, is rather recent history. Heck, we know people who were alive during these periods, have ancestors who might have lived lives that can contribute to a story idea without being autobiographical in nature.

The world really picked up its pace in the 1900s, going from the first motor powered manned airplane (Wright Brothers, 1903) to planes used in war, to the atomic bomb, to the first space flight, to walking on the Moon! Women finally got the vote. Gangsters made a killing (sometimes in more than one way) during Prohibition. Both jazz music and rock n roll were “born”. Radios, television, movies (silents to the talkies) and affordable gasoline powered motor cars went from non-existent to common place.

And that’s just what’s sitting at the top of the barrel! Join me for four weeks to delve into what could be not only a quickly emerging genre market but also YOUR market for storytelling.
