It’s men who wrote history for the most part but when a woman makes it into the history books of the past, it’s because she impressed the heck out of those men.

Or, in some cases, made them afraid. Very afraid. The nerve of those gals, right?

This all means that there are some ladies who serve as excellent models for our heroines in fiction. In this 4-week workshop, we’ll visit with a few.

We’ll start with the earliest, the one whose title has been bandied in the scriptures of three different religions that survive today: The Queen of Sheba. We’ll visit the possibly never existed but might have, Helen of Troy. Leap forward to the Iceni queen who nearly beat the Romans, to one who chose the wrong Roman to bed, a king’s daughter who ran her husband’s kingdom far better than he did, the awesome Elizabeth I, Catherine the Great, Victoria. A few scandalous ladies, too, who are worth recalling, and those who stuck their foot in the door of business and politics, becoming equally as memorable as the men with whom they rubbed shoulders. Then wrap things up with the still missing Amelia Earhart.

Journey with Beth Daniels through time with notebook in hand prepared to borrow the elements to create a great heroine of your own, be she preparing to star in a contemporary, a historical, a futuristic, or a fantasy tale.
